Richard Naylor looks back on his time at Leeds as a successful time after spending two and a half years at Elland Road and admits he just loved playing for the club.

Naylor was realised by manager Simon Grayson last week, after coming to the end of his contract but despite his disappointment of leaving the club but he feels he made a positive contribution.

Speaking on the official website , Naylor said, “I think it`s been a successful time. The first season we laid a platform, winning promotion was fantastic, and last season was probably a missed opportunity, but when I look back on it I can have pride that I have made a positive contribution and helped the club move forward.”

The 34 year old was Simon Grayson`s first signing at the club in January 2009 and he went on to make 81 appearances.

Naylor was also installed as club captain and he played 32 times in Leeds promotion season, which also included the 1-0 win at Manchester United in the FA Cup.

The defender struggled to get a regular starting place in the side last season and made just eleven appearances in the Championship.

The lifelong Leeds supporter was delighted to get the opportunity to play for the club and he admits he loved playing for the club and the fans, “It is a tremendous football club and everything I thought it would be. The fans are tremendous home and away and I just loved playing for Leeds United,” he continued.

Naylor is now hoping to move into coaching and is taking his UEFA B licence this summer.
