Oldham Athletic fan Alec Whittaker gives us his run down on Leeds United youngster Aidan White, who enjoyed a loan spell at Boundary Park last season.

White enjoyed two separate loan spells at Oldham last season making 24 appearances and scoring four goals.

Had you heard of Aidan White prior to him signing for Oldham and what did you think of his signing when it was announced?
Not heard of him, it was viewed positively as Leeds have a good reputation for producing young prospects, which he was, and we still remember getting Denis Irwin, Andy Ritchie, Andy Linighan, Tommy Wright and Sean Gregan!!!.

What did you think of Aiden during his time at Boundary Park?
Mixed, all players have good spells and bad spells, overall he contributed well to the team

He started the loan period in a very impressive way. He faded in the second half of his loan period. Perhaps he did not pace himself, and he was often substituted.

Lost his way playing in a team with little confidence, affected him perhaps. It`s difficult for young players to step up when the team is playing badly and the more senior players are ‘`hiding“.

He got injured; when he came back, he played well in his last few games. Up and down the left, defending and attacking. Oldham were playing better by this time, his confidence seemed to return, and he was taking people on again.

What were his strengths and weaknesses?
Capable of running past defenders, very quick, did his share of defending, pops up in the area in dangerous positions..

He faded out of games, looks too physically slight, easily knocked of the ball.

Would you have liked him to stay at Oldham?
Yes. Definitely

Did the Oldham fans come up with any good chants or nicknames for Aiden?
No. We were a subdued bunch this season.
