LUFC Grayson – We played well

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson felt his side played well and did not deserve to lose after being beaten at Derby County 1-0.

Derby won the game with a goal halfway through the second half and Grayson put the defeat down to an inspired performance by Frank Fielding in the Derby goal.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, “We played very well. We didn`t deserve to lose that football match today, when their keeper has made the saves he`s made, the blocks that they`ve made. We never really looked like we were going to lose it.
“We gave the ball away cheaply for the goal when they went and scored but throughout the course of the game I thought we played well. We passed the ball around well, we defended well and the shape was good.
“We didn`t give them too many opportunities; Andy Lonergan has hardly had a save to make. At the other end, Frank Fielding has made some outstanding saves and kept them in the game.”

Grayson also felt it was just one of those days, especially when he saw striker Luciano Becchio head over from close range when unmarked.
The Leeds boss was happy with the performance but realises it is about getting results. “We weren`t getting the breaks. Things just were not quite dropping for us in and around eighteen-yard box. We missed some chances. Luciano had a free header six yards out, so it wasn`t to be our day today.
I can be happy with how we played but it is about getting results,”
continued Grayson.

The defeat makes it just one point from a possible nine in the last three games.

The result also sees Leeds drop out of the play off positions and they are now eighth in the championship table.
