As Leeds United prepare for the coming season with their second ‘big’ preseason friendly of the summer against Newcastle, Leeds Boss Simon Grayson has said that he is looking forward to the challenge that they face at St James’ Park.

Leeds come into the game almost surprising favourites after coming off a very impressive performance against Blackburn where they drew 1-1.

Newcastle on the other hand are coming off a 6-1 hammering at the hands of Leyton Orient and are currently manager less.

But Grayson though knows better then to right off the Geordies in this encounter as Newcastle look to bounce back from the Orient defeat.

In an interview with the official site he said, ‘This is a big test for us. They have some big hitters, they’ll be smarting from a result at the weekend which nobody saw coming, and it would seem they’re in a bit of turmoil at this moment in time.’

When asked about the current situation of both sides who are used to Premiership football Grayson was quick to sympathise with Newcastle but stressed that what`s done is done.

‘But that’s in the past. We’re down where we are and they’re down in the division they are in, but you can’t get away from the size of the two clubs.’

A fixture that not too long ago would have been a top Premiership fixture, will surely be a good tests for two sides in similar yet different circumstances.
