Leeds travelled to Stockport County for a noon showdown against fellow play off hopefuls.

Grayson made changes from Boxing Day`s draw with Leicester City, Robert Snodgrass and Andy Hughes coming in for Andy Robinson and David Prutton.

Stockport made a dream start when inside the first two minutes a John Mullins strike from inside the box gave Ankergren no chance.

Leeds came back strongly at their hosts and a penalty shout for handball was waved away in favour of a corner, from the resulting corner Michalik shot wide.

Beckford had a shot blocked and also hit the woodwork as Leeds searched for an equaliser.

Leeds were level within twenty minutes when Luciano Becchio got the final touch to a corner that was swung in.

The visitors were now dominating the game and Becchio almost scored a second soon afterwards but his shot was saved by the Hatters keeper, from the rebound Beckford almost pounced to score.

Stockport finally started to get back into the game around the half hour and they enjoyed a good period when Leeds twice cleared off the line. Ankergren made a couple of good saves within the space of two minutes as the hosts looked to retake the lead.

The half time whistle blew with the sides still level although both defences were looking shaky and the chance of more goals a distinct possibility.

After an eventful first half the second half carried on much the same, Leeds best chance early on fell to Snodgrass whose free kick just went wide.

Stockport then enjoyed a decent spell with Tommy Rowe causing Leeds all sorts of problems.

After being under pressure for most of the half Leeds took the lead with just over fifteen minutes remaining, a clearance by the Stockport keeper went straight to Delph out wide and his long range effort gave the keeper no chance from well over 30 yards out.

Blizzard had a good effort saved by Ankergren, Leeds quickly attacked and Malcolm Christie scored from distance his first League goal for Leeds with three minutes remaining, his first for any club since November 2006.

Leeds ran the clock down to record their first League win since November 22nd and also records their first victory under new boss Simon Grayson.

Next up are Hereford United at Edgar Street, hopefully Leeds will have already been active in the January transfer window.
