LUFC Fans View v Middlesbrough

Tiny T returns for his usual review of the players following a game at Elland Road.

This time after the 1-0 home defeat by Middlesbrough.

Lonergan 8
Kept us in the game with some good saves, though his distribution is a little slow and just knocked long. Thought he went down a little early with the goal

Lees 8
Solid performance from his first League start, just shaded by Clayton in my man of the match. He was caught out slightly for the goal.

Bromby 8
A rock at the back, blocking, tackling excellent

Kisnorbo 8
Like his defensive partner always in the thick of the action.

O’Dea 7
Solid enough but lacks pace to play at left back.

Gradel 6
Stupid second booking to get sent off, but lively before hand

Howson 7
Got stuck in and his first card was for the team, shouldn’t have got a second, ridiculous Refereeing.

Brown 6
A little slow at times but rolled his sleeves up, as the going got tough.

Clayton 8 Star man
Involved everywhere, out on his feet but kept going, should have been given a chance last season.

Snodgrass 6
Reasonable but looks tired and unfit, tricky at times but just no spark.

McCormack 6
Runs round like a headless chicken at times, he needs to hold the ball but in fairness that`s not his game.

Substitutes
Nunez 6

Tough time but grafted.

Sam 5
Needs to work a little harder but we were up against it when he came on.

Thompson 6
Grafted hard to stem the flow.

Summary
The game was ruined by a Referee intent on making a name for himself. Lost control of the game in the first 5 minutes, then it was downhill all the way.
I can only hope that there was a Referee’s Assessor in the stands and sends this one for extra training when he goes back to the Premier League. Messes Rooney and Co will be spending a lot of time watching games from the stands.

A good game of football ruined.

Plenty of effort today and the defence was outstanding with the confetti being flashed about, but we are lacking up front with no target man. Thought Lees made a difference at right back as did Bromby in the middle but we look weak at left back.

The midfield worked hard and there was invention with Clayton very nearly giving us the lead with an audacious lob from just inside the Boro half.

Even when down to nine, we worked hard and got forward all credit to the team.

Finally to Mr Ken Bates, the team needs investment as a wise man once said ‘ Investment does not guarantee success but without it you get left behind.’

Thanks Tiny for your views.
