Leeds United defender Neil Collins says they are not getting carried away, despite their recent good form.

Leeds beat league leaders Queens Park Rangers 2-0 on Saturday to stretch their unbeaten run to nine games and move them into second place in the table.

Collins believes Saturday`s result will make other clubs sit up and take notice but isn`t getting carried away by the run of results and position they find themselves in going into Christmas.

Speaking in the YEP, Collins said, ‘Saturday puts a marker down, in terms of beating a good side.
‘At the end of the day, Leeds fans deserve something to be giddy about as they have had a long hard time away (from the limelight) and it’s good for them to enjoy it and up to us to keep up the expectations.
‘But without being boring, you don’t want to get carried away.”

The 27 year old knows what it takes to be promoted from the Championship, having done it before at Wolves and Sunderland, ‘I’ve been promoted twice before from this league and it takes a lot of hard work. We won 15 of our first 19 games at Wolves and had a better point`s difference than QPR and we led from the front,” he continued.

Collins as recently returned to the starting line up, starting the games against Burnley and Queens Park Rangers and he helped the side to only their second home clean sheet of the season on Saturday.

The former Sunderland and Wolves defender had seen his first team chances limited recently with the form of Andy O`Brien and Alex Bruce and prior to Burnley game his last start was at Coventry at the start of November.

Collins got his chance after an injury to Andy O`Brien and with Alex Bruce limping off inside ten minutes of the start on Saturday he looks likely to have a decent run in the side.
