Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen says he was proud of the team performance following their 1-0 win against Norwich City.

Leeds claimed another crucial three points as they moved to within a point of the play-off places as they continued their good run thanks to a Pontus Jansson first half header.

It was a third win in four games for Leeds and Christiansen felt his side deserved to take the three points.

“I`m proud of the whole team and the performance produced was good,” Christiansen told the Leeds official website .

“We played a good game, we were strong in defence and had opportunities to close the game, especially in the second half.

“I believe we could have started the game better, but as time went on we did well and managed to get the goal before half time.

“We wanted to record back to back victories as it is a long time since we have done that, the players did very well and deserved to take all three points.

“It was great to get the win at home, against a very difficult opponent, who came here to take at least a point, so overall I am very satisfied.”

Jansson headed the only goal of the game just before half time with Leeds enjoying their best spell of the game. Just moments before, Kalvin Phillips saw his effort hit a post and Pawel Cibicki saw his goal bound follow up shot blocked by the Norwich defence.

Samu Saiz had a great chance to ease Leeds nerves in the final quarter of the game when he was presented with a one-on-one chance after a poor back pass but he could only hit the inside of the post with the goal at his mercy.

Six minutes of injury time led for a nervy finish to the game but a resolute defensive display ensured Leeds kept a first clean sheet at Elland Road since September.

The win sees Leeds move to within a point of the play-off places, after a fourth win in six games.
