With Leeds United suffering defeat in last weekend’s Championship tie at Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers, midfielder Kalvin Phillips has held his hands up on behalf of the squad and admitted that the performance was nowhere near good enough on the day.

The 22-year-old was one of a number of players to put in a below-par performance on the day as we went down 2-1 to the newly promoted side and with Ipswich Town next up on Wednesday evening, he knew it was the perfect time to bounce back and register a positive performance and result to make up for that disappointment.

His interview with the official site can be read in full on the following link – Click Here.

“Obviously for us wanting to do really well in the Championship, it is very disappointing, you look at the two teams and think Leeds should win this game, but it is all about what happens on the day and we weren’t good enough. Wednesday night is massive now, I’m happy the games are coming thick and fast because after a loss you always want to put it right straight away.”

It probably doesn’t feel like a positive when a side is truly in a bad run of form, but Leeds have done enough in recent matches despite the players we have been missing that has stunted our early season clinical nature, so for those who consider the last match a bad day at the office, then getting another fixture cycle around so quickly is a positive as it means we can put the performance behind us without having to tread water for a week with a disappointed group on the training ground.

That of course, only works if we get back to winning ways or at least take a point in a far stronger showing though, so that will be the aim.
