Millwall will not be charged by the FA following the pitch invasion in the first leg of the Play-off semi-final against Leeds.
The incident occurred after Neill Harris scored the opening goal of the encounter which triggered a pitch invasion of a small minority of fans, two of which allegedly provoked Leeds keeper Casper Ankergren by throwing a cigarette end.
Subsequently these fans were banned immediately after the game and were
also charged by the police. The quick action by Millwall Football Club and
the Metropolitan police meant that the FA felt no need to charge the club further insuring that there would be no fine as would usually occur in such a situation.
This quick and clever thinking by the club means that they rightly won`t be punished for what a minority of fans did but rather a minority of fans will be punished for what they did.
