This week reports linking Leeds United with a move for striker Jerry Mbakogu have resurfaced and it’s fair to say that fans are less than pleased to see this rumour come back on to the radar.

The 25-year-old plays for Carpi who reside in Italy’s Serie B division and gianlucadimarzio have reported that previous issues in the deal ‘could be resolved’ and there is a suggestion that ‘significant movement’ could be made this week.

There’s no source, they don’t even suggest a source has told them this is the case but Leeds United are directly namechecked and stated to be the interested party in the player.

Our reported interest in him goes back to at least last season’s January transfer window and reports seriously tailed off once Marcelo Bielsa was appointed as gaffer but with ongoing strengthening issues with targets this summer, I guess it was only a matter of time before his name came back up to thrill the fans.

I know nothing about him other than what you can read. He had an injury-plagued second half to the season in 2017/18 so some have concerns about his fitness and possible long-term knee issues whilst others focus on his strike rate in the Italian second division as being a red flag as to how he might adjust to the Championship.

No transfer is ever guaranteed obviously, but fans are struggling to grasp positives on this one – although the top tweets might reassure people.
