Our Under 23 chargers have been in terrific form this season, and fans will get another chance to catch a glimpse of the young Whites in action in our Premier League Cup Semi-Final clash with Newcastle.
That’s because it has been announced that we will be the home side when Carlo Corberan’s squad face the Magpies for a place in the youth cup final, having already secured the Professional Development League North title with games to spare.
The Premier League Cup tie will be played between April 30 and May 10, and will be the third time this season we face Newcastle’s academy side. The venue for the game is yet to be announced, though.
Whites fans on Twitter have certainly been letting majority owner Andrea Radrizzani know where they would like the tie to be held, however, with a lot of shouts for our U23s to get another chance at playing at Elland Road in front of a roaring crowd.
Elland Road has already played host to the U23s once this season, when Corberan’s squad challenged Charlton Athletic at the home of the first-team. They are also set to face Ipswich Town there next Monday, with the evening encounter the final home tie our academy have pencilled in outside of the cup.
When the club shared the news that our U23 would be the home side against Newcastle on Twitter, this is what some of you had to say…
