With results at the foot of the Championship at premium, this became another must win game for Leeds United, even with 1 loss in 6 going into this game. Boss Dennis Wise made three changes from the side which lost at Layer Road with Frazer Richardson, Robbie Blake and Richard Cresswell all returning to the starting line-up in place of Rui Marques, the suspended Jonathan Douglas, and Tresor Kandol.

eeds started the game much brighter and pressured Burnley from the off. New Whites captain, David Healy, was amongst the action after a Richard Cresswell ball was cut out by Burnley defender Wayne Thomas.

he break came after 21 minutes when Alan Thompson whipped over a cross from the right and Matt Heath headed past Jensen.

controversial moment in the second half when after giving away free-kick on the edge of the box, on-loan Lubo Michalik was sent to the touchline for blood wiping from a head wound. Despite returning immediately, referee Steve Tanner refused to let Michalik resume until after the kick was taken. 10 men United defended the poor ball well.

n 62 minutes Eddie Lewis almost connected with a Richardson low cross.

n 79 minutes Lewis again on the spot to head against Burnley defender Thomas, but the ball fell kindly into the arms of Jensen.

n the tense final moments Leeds held on well for a much deserved and needed 3 points.
