All the reaction from the Leeds and Port Vale camps following United’s excellent 3-0 victory on Tuesday night.

Leeds United first team coach John Gannon told of his delight at the return to winning ways and eagerly looks towards the busy Christmas period as a chance to cement the clubs position in the top 6 of the table.

Speaking to leedsunited.com:

‘We got off to a wonderful start. For 30 minutes we were excellent, then we went off the boil a bit. Why? You can’t put your finger on it.

‘We kept working away. It’s all about chances and we took them.’

Moving on to the fixtures this side of the New Year he added:

‘There’s seven up to January 5th and it’s hugely important that we pick points up and close the gap to the New Year. Hopefully that’s the start.’

In the Port Vale camp, manager Lee Sinnott believed that the 3-0 deficit did not reflect the performance of his drastically altered squad.

Sinnott went for ‘hand grenade’ style changes in dropping four of his regular players and believes the replacements were unlucky to come away with such a harsh result:

‘Leeds were extremely clinical in taking their chances and we were not, the result was harsh on us but sometimes you don’t get what you deserve,’ he said.

‘The players applied themselves superbly. Leeds had a free weekend and looked fresh, but we stuck in there. If we had taken our chances at crucial times we would have given Leeds a game.

‘I left four players out to get a reaction from the team and I got it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean those four won’t be involved in the next game.”
