Leeds United could have their eyes on a replacement for Kiko Casilla this summer – and no, it’s not Illan Meslier.

According to Sportday, via Greek outlet SDNA, the Whites have entered the race for AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas but face competitions from SPFL giants Celtic and Rangers.

However, it is claimed that the 26-year-old favours a move to England as he wants to play in the Premier League, so realistically, United may only be able to clinch him should they earn promotion in these final eight matches.

Does Casilla have a future at Leeds?

Yes, keep him

No way, get rid

There’s also a suggestion that Marcelo Bielsa is impressed by the ten-time Greek international having kept 13 clean sheets in 28 appearances this campaign, as per Transfermarkt.

Phil Hay recently hinted that Casilla’s future may lie away from Elland Road following this season after an array of costly mistakes as well as an eight-match ban for racial abuse has put him out of favour.

Lorient loanee Meslier has stepped up in his absence, but whether Leeds will sign him permanently still remains to be seen. He also has no experience at an elite level.

Who has missed more big chances to score after 37 league games?

Whereas Barkas does having regularly featured in UEFA’s European competitions over the past few seasons, including in the Champions League last term where he played against the likes of Bayern Munich and Ajax.

A fee of €6m (£5.4m) has been previously mooted alongside the Athens shot-stopper in the past amid frequent links to the Scottish champions.

But what do you think? Do Leeds need a new goalkeeper next season?
