Leeds United are your Championship winners for the 2019/20 season.

That’s certainly been something everyone at Elland Road has been waiting to read for nearly two decades.

But what does the future hold? There have long been murmurs that the Yorkshire giants will be taken over with links to Qatar Sports Investments refusing to go away.

Would you like to see QSI invest in Leeds?

Yes please!

No thanks!

No thanks!

They are, of course, the owners of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay delivered an update on the situation in a recent fan Q&A and it’s not encouraging news on that front as he played down the chances of it happening.

He said:

“Every time I ask about QSI, people at Leeds shake their heads. They just don’t see it (although I’d never say never because of the relationship between Radrizzani and Al-Khelaifi). People think a further investment from the 49ers is more likely – but will AR really want to dilute his shareholding just as he’s hit the big time?”

Hay claims that people at the club shake their heads at the chances of QSI becoming involved at United but does admit that it’s not out of the realms of possibility given chairman Andrea Radrizzani’s relationship with Nasser Al-Khelaifi, chief of the Qatari group.

Instead, there are people talking up the idea that the San Francisco 49ers could increase their stakes in the champions.

Former Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen

Who was Thomas Christiansen's most-expensive Leeds signing?

A partnership between the two parties was announced two years ago, but that has also gone rather quiet since – garnering more income would certainly give Leeds the best chance of competing in the Premier League next term, so we’ll have to wait and see how this one develops.
