Report: Leeds open talks with towering 6 ft 5 powerhouse, deal dependant on one crucial factor

|

Leeds United are reportedly keen on landing an out-of-contract powerhouse this summer, but the deal appears to be dependant on one crucial factor.

According to the Daily Mail, Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites are one of several teams eyeing up a swoop for Nurnberg midfielder Patrick Erras, who becomes a free agent at the end of the month.

It’s claimed that they have even opened up preliminary talks with the 6 foot 5 powerhouse.

Should Leeds sign Patrick Erras this summer?

Yes please!

Yes please!

No thanks!

However, he’ll only be arriving at Elland Road should the side gain promotion this term.

United are yet to finalise their transfer targets as they are still to learn which league they’ll be competing in next season, and thus, Erras would be seen as a player who would be suitable for their Premier League return.

It’s been 16 years since Leeds were in the top-flight and they stand just nine games away from ending that long-awaited absence. Bielsa’s side have opened up a seven-point cushion to the playoff positions, so it’s sitting firmly in our hands.

Erras has previously been linked with Newcastle United.

Who scored our first goal of the season?

In 18 appearances this season, the towering midfielder has averaged 1.9 clearances, 1.3 tackles and 3.1 aerial duels won per game, via WhoScored.

He’s even been deployed in defence for Nurnberg, so his versatility could be of good use to Bielsa, especially as the Argentine is going to be left with a centre-back void in the summer.

But what do you think? Would you like to see Erras at Elland Road? Let us know…
