A victory tonight will not guarantee Leeds United promotion, but it will put them just one point away from clinching a return to the top-flight.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side snagged a last-gasp win at Swansea City on Sunday to go six points clear of the playoff zone, but Brentford’s win last night closed that gap to three points.

And the Argentine has a dilemma on his hands at the worst possible time as his key cog – and lynchpin – Kalvin Phillips has been ruled out for the season.

So how will the Yorkshire giants lineup against Barnsley this evening?

Predicted Leeds XI vs Barnsley

There could be as many as three changes whilst there’s perhaps a surprise at centre-back.

It’s widely expected that loan star and arguable Player of the Season, Ben White, moves into defensive midfield to cater for the absence of KP, thus leaving a void in the backline.

But instead of opting for the natural Gaetano Berardi, we could see Bielsa shift Luke Ayling into the middle with Stuart Dallas swapping flanks.

It means Barry Douglas comes back into the starting lineup at left-back after being quite harshly dropped on Sunday.

Ayling has played at centre-back eight times this season and may be the man to fill the gap here this evening.

Who assisted Luke Ayling's opener vs Huddersfield on March 7?

The game-changing Pablo Hernandez is due a start so he should replace Tyler Roberts in the hole with Mateusz Klich just behind whilst the third and final alteration is out wide.

Gjanni Alioski has been knocking on the door with his cameos from the bench too so he’s granted a place in the starting XI at the expense of £15m man Helder Costa, who was a little off it on Sunday.

He’ll line up on the left with Jack Harrison switching to the other flank.

Patrick Bamford will, of course, lead the line.
