Your Championship winners, Leeds United, are back in action for the first time since being crowned the 2019/20 champions as they face a trip to one of last season’s enemies.

Derby County welcome Marcelo Bielsa’s side to Pride Park later this afternoon, they’ll be knowing that a spot in the playoffs this time around is far out of reach whilst United effectively have nothing to play for either.

Leeds predicted XI vs Derby County

There could be two changes to the side that defeated Barnsley in midweek.

Bielsa should revert back to a familiar 4-1-4-1 of sorts after his side looked all over the place as he deployed that infamous 3-3-3-1 formation at Elland Road on Thursday.

It means a backline of Stuart Dallas, Gaetano Berardi, skipper Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling remains in check in front of Illan Meslier whilst Ben White heralds them in the Kalvin Phillips role just in front.

The 24-year-old is out for the remainder of the season.

Another player who could be set to miss this one is Helder Costa after he was stretched off against the Tykes, he collided with former Whites man Alex Mowatt off the ball, ending his game early. His five goals and eight assists may be well be missed.

Who has missed more big chances to score after 37 league games?

But in his place comes Gjanni Alioski, who has been in decent nick from the bench, which means Jack Harrison swaps to the right-flank.

Whilst Pablo Hernandez is finally gifted a start after coming on at half-time in the last few matches – Tyler Roberts is far from a number ten and would be more suffice to replace Patrick Bamford, who starts up top, in the second period.

Mateusz Klich also keeps his place in midfield, he’s on course to play every single Championship outing this term.

Expect the likes of Ian Poveda and Pascal Struijk to feature from the bench as Bielsa takes another look at them before heading into a busy summer of preparation for a campaign in the top-flight.
