Alan Nixon reveals Leeds’ “very warm interest” in Championship duo, could sign on one condition

|

Leeds United are going to be in for a busy summer transfer window whether they like it or not – as the way often is with newly-promoted teams, they are linked with every man and their dog.

And it appears that’s already in motion with The Sun’s Alan Nixon mooting the Yorkshire giants with young Wigan Athletic duo Joe Gelhardt and Sean McGurk.

Should Leeds be investing in their youth set-up this summer?

Yes, 100%

No way

He claims that the Whites could be the front-runners once their promotion is confirmed.

The Latics are struggling financially and need to raise funds as soon as possible, which is why two of their most promising talents seem to be on the chopping block.

Gelhardt is a striker that has drawn lofty comparisons to both Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane whilst McGurk is also forward who bagged a goal at Old Trafford for the under-18s.

Whilst neither are likely to be knocking on Patrick Bamford’s door anytime soon, they are instead rather exciting prospects for the future.

It remains to be seen how much Leeds would stump up for either player, particularly given interest from other Premier League teams such as Spurs and Everton.
