Following the largely unexpected and hugely disappointing defeat to Queens Park Rangers in our midweek Championship trip to Loftus Road on Tuesday evening, Leeds United have had a quick turnaround in the fixture list and earlier this evening we welcomed fellow promotion battlers West Bromwich Albion to Elland Road.
Having blown the opportunity to return to the top of the second tier table in the last game, manager Marcelo Bielsa’s side had the perfect opportunity to keep the pressure on by taking a key victory in the run in tonight.
Given the QPR disappointment, fans were hoping to see a quick start from the side as a sign of intent and Pablo Hernandez lived up to those hopes, scoring 16 seconds into the match. Just ahead of the half hour mark, Patrick Bamford answered a few critics to double our lead.
Following the halftime restart, Bamford secured his brace just after the hour mark to make it 3-0 and Ezgjan Alioski made it 4-0 in stoppage-time.
Quite the statement and quite the response to QPR.
