With the 2018 / 2019 season still some way off, it would seem that Leeds, under the guidance of their new manager, Marcelo Bielsa, are already looking to bolster their squad.

Today, the insinuation is given, by the media, Leeds United are interested in bringing a new goalkeeper to the club.

According to the media source, the Birmingham Mail, the goalkeeper Leeds are interested in is David Stockdale.

Stockdale, now 32-years-of-age, is an experienced keeper who has been on the books of Fulham, Brighton and Hove Albion and currently Birmingham City.

However, although Stockdale only joined Birmingham City on a free transfer last summer, he has been told he can leave.

But, there could be some way to go before a deal is concluded.

Our referenced source is indicating that Leeds United have yet to match the valuation Birmingham City have put on the player and are adrift of the salary expectations Stockdale would expect if he were to move to Elland Road.

Here at Vital Leeds, we reckon Stockdale would be a solid acquisition. Last season he made 36 appearances, in the Championship for Birmingham. Previously, in his career, he was called up to the England squad on just the one occasion, before slipping out of the picture.

But, any potential deal will have to see several obstacles overcome.

We’ll keep an eye on the developing situation and repeat back when further information comes to our attention.
