While many supporters of the beautiful game are rightly focused on proceedings at the World Cup, the transfer market remains in full flow. And, Leeds United could be bracing themselves for another potential departure. It is rumoured that Italian side, Brescia are targeting their promising left-back, Tyler Denton.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Denton is a target for Massimo Cellino’s Brescia. Leeds United’s forward, Marcus Antonsson is already close to securing his move to the Italian side, and Denton could be poised to follow in the footsteps of his team-mate.

With the appointment of Marcelo Biesla announced, supporters are anticipating a flurry of transfer activity, and it has emerged that the Argentine manager is willing for fringe players to leave the squad to accommodate potential incomings. One such player is Tyler Denton.

Despite signing a new contract at Elland Road, committing himself to Leeds until 2020, he has only attained three first-team appearances for the Whites. His only experience of continuous senior football was experienced at Port Vale during the first-half of last season, where he made 21 appearances for the League 2 outfit.

While there’s no denying that Denton is a talented prospect, who has potential to become a regular Championship left-back for Leeds, their focus will be rightly placed on attempting to secure promotion to the Premier League, thus potentially rendering his usefulness (in the short-term) null.

Given Denton’s relative inexperience and current status within the Leeds team, it would be a sensible financial decision to allow the English defender to depart, to reduce their wage bill and potentially increase their future transfer funds.

The priority for a club of Leeds’ stature is to certify that they’re playing in the top-tier of English football, and the club’s transfer activity must reflect that ambition.
