Leeds Have Goalkeeper Issues

Leeds United have a problem. Well, Leeds United have a large number of problems as it stands but this one is a fairly large one as far as the playing squad is concerned.

Following the departure of loan signings Graham Stack and the impressive Casper Ankergren, the current “transfer embargo” has left the club unable to acquire a senior goalkeeper. Whilst there is a slightly comical side to this, imagining Eddie Lewis being asked to “do a Jagielka,” the fact remains that we could go into the season relying on the completely untested Jonathan Lund.

Leeds boss Dennis Wise is believed to have agreed deals in principle with current trialist Scott Loach, and Ankergren who is still reportedly very keen to return to Elland Road. The problem comes down to the Football League still stopping the club from registering new or existing players who`s contracts have been renewed.

Gus Poyet told BBC Sport: ‘I hope we can sign someone – if not I am not sure who will play there.’

Perhaps Gus himself could learn to become a goalkeeper?
