Leeds fans will have to wait to see potential Victor Orta signing

|

The transfer window does not open until July 1, but Victor Orta is close to finalising a deal to bring Motherwell prospect Stuart McKinstry to West Yorkshire, as per Football Insider.

They are claiming that an announcement of his capture could be made in the next few days, as the 16-year-old has already completed a medical, agreed personal terms and most of the formalities needed to sign for the Whites.

As his contract with the Well runs for another year, the Scottish outfit will be set to make £400,000 for the transfer, mostly payable over performance-related bonuses – only £150k will be paid upfront.

When the deal is complete, McKinstry will move to the club on a scholarship, at first, but his contract will then become a three-year professional deal upon his 17th birthday on September 18.

Fans wishing to see what the youngster has to offer, however, will have to wait for their first chance, unless you attend our U23 fixtures, as that is where McKinstry will be initially.

The plan is to eventually incorporate him into Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team, but Carlos Corberan will have first dibs on the U17 international midfielder, much like Mateusz Bogusz, who has been earning rave reviews since his arrival in January.
