With plenty of continued criticism directed at Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford given his recent goal drought (going back to August), the 26-year-old went some way towards silencing his critics in today’s victory over Blackburn Rovers.
It was a lively first 45 minutes as Bamford opened the scoring from the penalty spot (yes, a penalty!) on the half hour mark, and he then laid on an assist for Jack Harrison who doubled our advantage five minutes later.
Blackburn did find a leveller five minutes before the half time break, but with no goals following in the second half, manager Marcelo Bielsa saw his side hold on for another valuable three points. Arguably we could’ve won by more given our control in the second period, and the win leaves us sitting in third place in the second tier table, more than in the mix and just two points shy of leaders West Bromwich Albion.
