Leeds United could have been forced to challenge the final leg of the campaign without Kemar Roofe, but the Whites’ star striker has told Radio X, per quotes by the Yorkshire Evening Post, that he will return this season.

Roofe will not be in line to feature on a Marcelo Bielsa teamsheet anytime soon, as the knee ligaments damaged against Swansea will take a while to recover.

The club’s confidence that the blow will not be a season-ender have so far proven true, however, going by the 5 foot 8 forward’s claims on Thursday morning.

The 14 goal star was speaking to Radio X as part of a special morning of broadcasting live from Elland Road, and claimed: “I’ll be back for the final six or seven games, maybe a bit sooner.

“I suffered damage to my lateral ligament and I’ll be out for six to eight weeks.”

Should Roofe only miss six weeks, he could be in line to return for the Whites’ trip to Birmingham on April 6, though that would mean missing vital clashes with promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United.

For this weekend’s clash with Bolton, Bielsa is also expected to be without Jack Clarke again, as United carefully ease the winger back into the fold following his collapse at Middlesbrough.
