Leeds closing in on remarkable signing but deal may not be as expected

|

Leeds United are flying high at the top of the Championship and opened up a four-point advantage following Friday’s victory over fellow promotion-chasers Derby County.

Marcelo Bielsa’s priority in the January transfer window is landing a new goalkeeper, with Bailey Peacock-Farrell standing as the only senior option within the squad, and the Peacocks are closing in on a stunning addition.

BBC journalist Adam Pope has confirmed that a move bringing Kiko Casilla to England from Real Madrid is on the verge of completion, although the agreement may not be permanent as initially thought and could instead see the 33-year-old arrive on loan.

With the terms of the deal not clear, Leeds may be forced to be without the Spaniard for this weekend’s clash with Stoke City and there is still the danger that a move for Champions League winner Casilla could break down.

It may be that a permanent deal depends on whether Leeds earn promotion to the Premier League but fans will need to be patient for a little while longer.
