Leeds Boss Admits Stakes Are High

Leeds United manager Gary McAllister has targeted the televised clash against in-form Walsall as the ideal place to kick start the promotion hunt.

By the time that Leeds even kick-off in front of the Sky TV cameras at Elland Road, they may be anywhere up to 7 points away from a playoff position, something deemed unacceptable by an ever increasingly frustrated Leeds United faithful.

“Walsall have done well,” the boss told Leedsunited.com. “They’ve got themselves in a good position, like ourselves.”

“We know what’s at stake – if we turn them over we’ll go above them.

“We’ve got the TV cameras here and there’ll be a big crowd – what more can you want?”

Gary Mac also hopes that playing the teams in and around Leeds’ current position will prove a great challenge for a squad that has somewhat lost it’s way since the beginning of 2008.

“It is a good thing we’re coming up against these teams,’ added the boss. ‘These games should inspire the players. My advice to them is to work hard, enjoy the challenge and rise to it.”
