Latest news from Elland Road should please some Leeds fans during tough run

|

Our current form in the Championship has been a bitter pill to swallow, given how close we are to the end of the season and the permutations a late crumble have.

No one wants to see Marcelo Bielsa have to guide us through the Play-Offs and face a potential Wembley showdown with in-form Aston Villa, knowing that the boss may walk away from our dugout if we were to lose.

Some fans, though, may be delighted to hear that they can take some time away from the promotion race and enjoy our superb Under 23s at Elland Road once more, as it has been confirmed that Carlos Corberan’s side will face Coventry City there in the Professional Development League Semi-Final.

The tie pits the North Division winners (us) against the South Division Runners-Up (Coventry), to decide who will go on to challenge Birmingham City or Ipswich Town for the overall youth honour.

A portion of the fanbase had wanted Corberan’s squad to play on home soil when we were drawn as the host side in our Premier League Cup Semi-Final clash with Newcastle, but that tie was ultimately played at Nethermoor Park.

Nevertheless, 3,051 Whites supporters packed the stands to support our young squad against the Magpies, and will now be able to do so at Elland Road for just the third time this season – our U23s hosted Charlton and Ipswich there over the past month-and-a-half.

The Semi-Final with Coventry will be held on April 29 with a 19:00 kick-off, and admission will be free for any Leeds United member or season ticket holder (non-members can purchase tickets at £3).
