It was being reported on Friday that with ongoing speculation about both Leeds United goalkeepers Kiko Casilla and Bailey Peacock-Farrell that we would be looking to make a loan move for Bournemouth stopper Mark Travers, should the Dean Court outfit be successful in their chase for Stoke City and England goalkeeper Jack Butland.

This is one report on the rumour mill that is so convoluted it naturally makes absolutely no sense, but sadly that now seems to be the media world we live in.

20-year-old Bournemouth Academy graduate Travers certainly made his mark in what can loosely be described as a breakthrough season at the club and he seriously impressed between the sticks in matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, although he did concede five in the latter game.

His stock his high and he’s clearly a talent for the future, but with BPF often receiving unfair criticism given his age, but Casilla being less than reliable given his supposed experience, there’s not a chance in hell we are going to establish a career two game goalkeeper as our No 1 for 2019/20.

If Casilla returns to Spain, BPF returns to the starting XI and Travers would be back up at best, as given those who have no wriggle room for our Academy graduate, won’t be any kinder to him.

In a saturated media market, sometimes some would do well to remember the world credibility.
