Plenty of Leeds United fans have been criticising journalist Phil Hay online following his recent post predicting what the Whites need to do to gain promotion the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are currently at the summit of the Championship and are one point ahead of West Bromwich Albion in second place, with plenty of breathing space between themselves and Fulham in the Playoff zone.

Although Leeds have been in the second tier for well over a decade, the Elland Road faithful have been awaiting their return to the top flight since their relegation in 2004.

Will Leeds be promoted?

The Athletic journalist predicted on Twitter that the Whites will need to accumulate 85 points to confirm their Premier League status, which means that they will need to win five of their remaining nine games.

With this in mind, supporters have been panicking over superstitious concerns about Hay’s comments and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he has applied the “kiss of death” to the club, while another stated that he doesn’t learn.
