Marcelo Bielsa delivered his first press conference today as manager of Leeds United but did not do so in English.

That, of course, is no big deal in the short term and I’m sure he’s going to nail the language in time, with him having never worked in this country before.

Mainly he’s worked in Spain and Argentina so he naturally spoke Spanish which isn’t massively a problem with the likes of Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez around.

He’s ready to work hard to get the lingo, though, with him quoted – and translated – as saying by Tom Maguire:

The Verdict

He may be in his 60s but I’m sure he’ll approach this with the same determination and rigour that he does his management.

I’d not be surprised at all if he was speaking English by his first pre-match press conference by the start of August.

Watch this space with that.
