b>In-form striker Tresor Kandol has signed a new contract that will keep him at Elland Road until 2011 it was announced today.

The 26 year-old striker, signed from Barnet last season has been in fine form as he finally adjusted to the Leeds United way of playing, scoring 5 goals already as one half of an effective strike partnership with Jermaine Beckford.

Like Beckford, Kandol’s contract is a reward for good performances, a reasoning backed up by Leeds United chairman Ken Bates who told Yorkshire Radio: ‘Dennis targeted six players for new contracts and he works on the principle that if they are worth it you offer them a new contract before the ask.

‘Tresor was the last and now we’ve got the boys lined up were he wants them with something that is fair to them and affordable to us.

‘It’s encouraging for the youngsters that they are being rewarded for their progress and hopefully it will encourage them to do even better.’
