Following some slightly shaky performances as of late, will Dennis Wises’ men bounce back to early-season form with a trip to the seaside?

Vital Quotes:

Leeds United manager Dennis Wise is looking forward to the trip to Brighton, despite less than complimentary comments regarding the state of the stadium the match will be played in.

Speaking to the Leeds United Official Website Wise said: ‘It’s not a nice stadium and not a nice place to go, but it’s 11 v 11 on some grass and it doesn’t matter what’s around it.

‘We’ve had a look at Brighton and seen how they play. They’ve changed their system a few times, but we know what they’re capable of and what they’re about, and things are going well for them.’

No quotes from Brighton regarding the game yet. They’ll be added if some pop up but I think the management are more than likely cowering at the fact they are playing Leeds United this weekend.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News:

Dean Cox will miss the game as he is suspended (naughty boy!)

Midfielder George O’Callaghan is out due to injury according to BBC whilst Brighton will welcome back Nicky Forster and defender Guy Butters.

Player to watch: Michel Kuipers

According to ‘Ferret’s Blog’ on the official Brighton & Hove Albion website, Kuipers has gone 407 minutes without conceding a league goal.

This would obviously suggest that he is a man in form?

Apparently his last record was broken by Dick Tracey.

Leeds United Team News:

With Alan Thompson set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, Jonathan Douglas returns from international duty and will slot straight into the midfield as stand-in captain.

Strikers Tore-Andre Flo and Leon Constantine are both injured, meaning a likely subs bench place for on-loan front man Mark De Vries.

Aside from that we’re all good!

Player to watch: Tresor Kandol

A bizarre week for our Tres, who managed to bugger up a penalty in some style last weekend and today, has signed a new contract.

Expect Kandol to display excellent ‘bouncebackability’ with a goal!

Useless Facts:

  • Brighton’s beach is home to an annual beach (funnily enough) soccer tournament.

  • However the sand used for the pitch, is imported!

  • 2007 saw Brighton host the World Beard and Moustache Championship.

  • The winners can be viewed by clicking here

  • Brighton was the first non-Asian location for Tuc-Tuc’s according to Wikipedia. Whether the idea caught on or not is another story (Brighton fans get in touch!)
  • Ref Watch:

The referee for the game is none other than Mr P Taylor!

Mr Taylor, who hails from Hertfordshire, has managed a staggering 35 yellow cards in 10 games. He hasn’t to date sent anyone off this season!

    Match Prediction:

Leeds back on track with a 3-1 win, Kandol 2 and Beckford.

    After Brighton:

Leeds return home to Elland Road for a potential fiery fixture against Milwall (27/10).
