Leeds are set to decide on the future of midfielder Robbie Gotts this week, journalist Alan Nixon has reported.

The midfielder had seemingly been set for a loan move to Huddersfield Town this summer, before the prospect of that deal was reported to have vanished.

However, it now seems as though a temporary move away from Elland Road could still be on the cards for the 20-year-old.

According to Nixon’s latest update, Leeds will decide on the future of Gotts this week, and it seems there are still options available for the young midfielder, should the club elect to send him out on loan.

It is thought that Huddersfield remain interested in Gotts, while League One side Hull City are said to have come back in to the race to secure the services of the midfielder.

Having made just a handful of senior appearances in the cup competitions during his senior career so far, it would make some amount of sense to send Gotts out on loan for the coming campaign, as it is hard to see him featuring to regularly in the Premier League this season.

That way, the midfielder ought to be able to gain some important experience playing regular competitive first-team football, which will surely be a boost for his prospects going forward.

If that does happen, then a move to Huddersfield over Hull could suit Gotts better, since it would challenge him at a higher level of football, while also allowing him to reunite with former Leeds Under 23s boss Carlos Corberan, who is now in chare at The John Smith’s Stadium.

Even so, Marcelo Bielsa and co. will have to make sure they are not leaving themselves short on numbers with this departure, before officially sanctioning any potential deal.
