Joe Wainman has been speaking about transfers on his Youtube channel, The Just Joe Football Show, and he feels Leeds United should be going after former Real Madrid star, Isco.

The Sevilla midfielder is rumoured to be leaving the Spanish club in the very near future and will be available on a free transfer. The 30-year-old could be a great signing for Jesse Marsch and will certainly get the fans excited to see such a big-name playing at Elland Road. There haven’t been any firm links between the player and Leeds, but there was speculation about a possible transfer in the past. The Whites need more reinforcements in midfield as well as the obvious left-back and striker positions. Brenden Aaronson is the only real attacking midfielder at the club so Isco would be a perfect addition for the Whites. Only Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich are available to replace the suspended Tyler Adams against Manchester City, highlighting the need for Marsch to bring in at least three or four players in the January transfer window.

Isco has a wealth of experience playing at the top level, with over 240 appearances for Real Madrid and 38 caps for the Spanish national side. Playing in the Champions League regularly and winning everything there is to win, he really is a top, top player. At 30 years old he still has plenty to offer, and on a free transfer, it really is a no-brainer for Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani. You get the feeling this transfer window will be a crucial one for Leeds, and the powers that be need to get this one right.

Joe Wainman said, “Isco, previously at Real Madrid, currently at Sevilla, well I say currently is just about to be released from his contract and will be available for a free. Now there hasn’t been any credible links to Leeds united as of yet. However, there has been in the past, for me this has got a Victor Orta reclamation project written all over it. It’s either that or he moves to Wolves right? He previously worked with Lopetegui at Sevilla, Lopetegui’s left Sevilla, Sampaoli’s not playing him, they’ve come to an agreement you know what, just after four months, release me from my contract.”

“Yes, he is thirty years old but would Isco improve us? Yes, he would, would he improve Wolves? Yes, he would, where will he probably go? Wolves. It is what it is, but I think it’s worth chatting about. You know, he needs somewhere to go. He has nowhere to go. He has been a bit on the downward spiral. Leeds United unfortunately, swimming in waters where we have to maybe take risks like this. They aren’t going to cost us a transfer fee but maybe a little bit more in wages.”

“Would you be up for maybe approaching Isco and say, look free agent come to the Premier League? Because if we don’t, I think someone like Wolves will. You know, we’re running out of options really in terms of players that are available to us in our pool. Of course Victor Orta will be looking at players that we’re not even aware of, that not even your Phil Hay’s, your Graeme Smyth’s, your David Ornstein’s are aware of you know, that’s just facts, but I’d love us to make a signing like Isco, something along them lines that’s going to come in and just lift the place, right. He carries a bit of gravitas behind him. I understand why people go oh, Chris Wood bang average. He could do a job trust and believe he could, but he’s staying put at Newcastle anyway, but would Isco excite you? I think it would, but whatever happens in January I do think Leeds United will sign at least two players.”
