Jesse Marsch “We are united, we are together”

|

Jesse Marsch was quick to rubbish rumours of a dressing room rift when he spoke to the media after his side secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The Whites went through with a convincing victory over Cardiff City at Elland Road, winning 5-2 after being five goals up in the game. Two late goals from Callum Robinson, including an injury-time strike from the spot made the scoreline a little more respectable but the result could have been a lot worse for the Championship side.

The hosts were in rampant form and could have easily scored eight or nine. Rodrigo scored a brilliant solo effort sandwiched between two fantastic goals from Willy Gnonto. His first, a superb volley that nestled into the top corner and a brilliant strike from the edge of the box that secured his brace. Patrick Bamford came off the bench to score a double of his own in the second half with two, very well-taken strikes that gave Jak Alnwick in the Cardiff net, no chance.

Jesse Marsch spoke on SkySportsNews after the game and he said, “I want to try to find a way for our fans, for our club, for everybody to keep the belief in this team because I see them every day, I see their work ethic, I see their commitment to each other.”

“Even this report that comes out, the BS about some of the players are against me is just awful, It’s just awful. We are united, we are together, we are doing everything we can as a group, we are all harbouring the responsibility, especially me and we believe in ourselves and we know we’re gonna get better.”

Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear showed solidarity with the under-fire American when he embraced him in front of the media during the press conference. The Whites will now welcome Brentford to Elland Road on Sunday in what is another crucial game for Marsch and his side.
