Injury blow for Man Utd ahead of Leeds games

|

Leeds United’s Premier League rivals Manchester United have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of the Whites double-header of clashes with Erik ten Hag’s side next week.

An unusual season of football continues in an unusual fashion, as Jesse Marsch’s Leeds are set to square of twice against Man Untied in Premier League action with just four days between each game; first on Wednesday February 8th (8pm), followed by Sunday February 12th (2pm). The pair’s first fixture was scheduled to take place back in September, but was postponed following the passing of Queen Elizabeth.

With two huge games for both sides in such a short period of time, both Marsch and ten Hag will be hoping for as much available squad depth as possible to give some sort of advantage heading into the hostile match-ups.

Confirmed this week, Manchester United will be without key midfielder Christian Eriksen for a large portion of the remainder of the season, following an ankle injury sustained in their FA Cup fourth round victory against Reading last weekend [via Yorkshire Evening Post].

While there is a chance the Danish international could make a return towards the end of the current campaign, he is undoubtedly ruled out for each of the Leeds games at Old Trafford and Elland Road next week. The 30 year old star has already registered 31 appearances this season, so he will be a significant absence for Leeds’ rivals.

Leeds fans will be eager to see some of their clubs new signings in action throughout the coming games, and two clashes with Manchester United in such a short window of time creates an opportunity for the likes of Georginio Rutter, Weston McKennie and Max Wober to make a strong statement and announce their arrival to the rest of the Premier League.
