With The Sun reporting that Spurs are getting ever closer to signing young winger Jack Clarke, in a deal that could start at £8.5m and then rising depending on various add-ons, it seems as if one of the summer’s longest-running rumours is set to come to a close.
Jack Clarke’s performances for the Yorkshire side this season have seen him dubbed a ‘wonder kid’, and despite suffering from a virus earlier in the season, his displays during Leeds’ impressive campaign saw him take home the Young Player Of The Season award.
However, Leeds United fans can’t quite work out if this is a good deal or not. Some think that now is the right time to cash in on him and use the money to rebuild the squad. Whilst £8.5m can go a long way in the Championship if you know what you’re doing, as that example shows, there are some fans who aren’t happy to see the young man leave for such a fee.
Be it because they think the sum is too low, or because they think he should be kept at all costs and build the squad around him, some sections of the Elland Road fan base aren’t quite prepared to see him leave.
Much rather keep Shackleton

Said all along, if getting £15m for Clarke means we keep Phillips & Shackleton I’m all for it, providing it goes into improving the squad, which I’m sure it would.

He’s a number, a commodity, it’s business. I have faith in the people who make the decisions at LUFC. mot⚽️

As long as we get a decent fee and sign a decent replacement then I’m fine with that.

Depends if the money is reinvested to keep payers like Kalvin and to get us a proven goal scoring winger and/or part of a bigger plan to improve 3 or 4 positions. It’s this year or never. ????????????

I would much rather keep our youngsters and build the team around them. Getting expensive loans in return with players who don’t give a damn more often that not have proven to be a waste of time for me. Replacing with players on high wages isn’t guaranteed to work either!

There’s a difference between his worth and what we should be asking for him. We need to be doing good business, not selling for what’s he’s worth or just bellow. Talent/age/what clubs after him/what clubs selling and their current situation all factors. Sell high or not at all

I appreciate that buying and selling is part of football life but in my humble opinion if we don’t need to sell, don’t sell. We can go up this year and then we’ll be looking to buy the jack clarkes back … and then you’ll find out what he’s worth
