I can’t believe we’ve got Rutter – Welcome to Leeds

Leeds United have today announced the signing of 20-year-old French U21 forward, Georginio Rutter from German club Hoffenheim.

Announced on the official Leeds United website and Twitter account, The Whites can finally confirm the much-anticipated signing of Georginio Rutter from the German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim and he will wear the number 24 shirt.

The club have moved swiftly in the January transfer window to secure deals for Maximilian Wober and now, after 48 hours of intense talks and fans tracking planes from Germany to Leeds/Bradford airport, the club can finally announce Georginio Rutter. The France U21 International joins the club on a five-and-a-half-year deal for a fee believed to be around £30 m. Jesse Marsch had stated that the club were actively seeking reinforcements in the window, with a left-back and striker as the priority to bolster the squad, and according to numerous reports, the work doesn’t stop there. The West Yorkshire club are still seeking new additions before the window shuts in just under three weeks.

The fans will be happy to see more attacking options added to the ranks and will look forward to seeing Georginio Rutter in action. He arrives from the German Bundesliga having bagged two goals and three assists for Hoffenheim this year in all competitions. He managed eight goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season, assisting four goals along the way, to finish the season as the club’s top scorer. He is regarded as one of Europe’s top young talents and the fans will like his explosive style of play. He can play anywhere across the front three, is strong and physical and has a fantastic shot on him with either foot. He is also very good on the ball and loves to take people on and run at defenders.
