With Spygate coming to end in recent days for Leeds United as the club accepted a £200,000 fine from the EFL for doing something absolutely not against the rules, but being deemed to be against the spirit of ‘utmost faith’, news that an on pitch brawl between the players of Norwich City and Ipswich Town has not gone down well amongst fans.
The Football Association confirmed yesterday that the derby day brawl between the sides would see Norwich fined a paltry £25,000 and Ipswich only £20,000 for failure to control their players – a game that also saw Ipswich manager Paul Lambert shown a red card by the referee and sent from the touchline – well, given the egregious breach of known laws applicable in that situation – fans are disgusted given the difference in the level of fines handed out.
Taking to social media to vent their frustrations, the message from the Elland Road faithful was clear and needs no explanation.
Thought they might have been fined £200000 for not showing respect to each other. To be fair they weren't looking over a fence from a public road. #LUFC

I assume it was a respectful fight as the fine is so small.

Woweee! How come such a small amount? Surely the going rate for being naughty is £200k these days!!!
Oh, wait a minute …. it’s not LUFC is it!!!

There needs to be more transparency and accountability with the EFL and the FA, it’s a law unto itself

???????? not £200,000 for failing to show respect to each other then?? Bloody joke! Oh hang on – I know why – they were on private property as opposed to a public footpath where every human being is allowed to stand and watch the world go by. @FA and @EFL are an absolute joke.

Compared to £200k fine for standing on a public path with some binoculars and gardening tools observing a training session. Are you serious?!
