A Significant Weekend For Leeds – In More Than One Way

|

Not many Leeds fans would have highlighted the upcoming fixture against Bolton as an important one, when the fixtures came out, however it now holds tremendous weight and one Leeds fans are treading very carefully.

Saturday pits Leeds against perennial relegation strugglers Bolton Wanderers. They sit 23rd and have one of the worst away records in the league, only picking up 13 points on their travels so far.

This all bodes well for Leeds who in complete contrast possesses a tremendous home record having only lost three times at Elland Road all year. Despite all the statistics going in Leeds’ favour, fans all week have been edgy, and rightly so. After West Brom snatched a late winner at Loftus Road the gap to Leeds is now only one point and suddenly Leeds are looking over their shoulder.

A big three points, preferably with a big margin of victory, would be ideal for the Whites’ however any avid Leeds fan would snatch your hand off for a scrappy 1-0 win. A scrappy 1-0 win would typify Leeds’ season so far: dozens of chances created per game with very little goals scored in comparison to the teams around them.

It’s an extremely important game week for Leeds as promotion rivals West Brom and Sheffield United face off at the Hawthorns in a heavyweight clash live on Sky. Leaders Norwich host playoff contenders Bristol City who will pose a significant threat to the Canaries, having only lost once in their last 10 games, in all competitions.

A significant weekend for Leeds, in the race to the Premier League. A home game against Bolton, a perfect opportunity to gain maximum points.
