Many Leeds United fans have been reacting online after LUFC Data shared that no Luton Town player completed more passes than Kiko Casilla on Saturday.
Casilla found a Whites teammate with 22 of his passes at the weekend as we beat the Hatters’ 2-1, with the Spaniard completing 95.7% of his total 23 balls at Kenilworth Road.
The former Real Madrid shot-stopper only attempted two long passes amid his total 23, and found a teammate with each effort as he opted to keep things short and ensure that United retained possession.
Andrew Shinnie was Luton’s top passer on Saturday, meanwhile, with the 30-year-old completing 22 of his 28 passes before being replaced by Luke Bolton in stoppage-time.
Shinnie was the only Hatters man to complete more than 14 passes at the weekend, per WhoScored figures, while Patrick Bamford, Tyler Roberts and Jack Harrison were the only outfield Leeds players to complete fewer than 36 of those who started.
Who has been our Player of the Season so far?
Casilla
White
Phillips
Bamford
Casilla’s 95.7% pass success rate was his second-highest score recorded in the Championship this season, after completing each of his 15 attempts against Wigan Athletic in August.
His worst performance came against Bristol City when Casilla only completed 55.8%, but has registered a success rate of 80% or higher on nine occasions.
Here are some of the reactions offered to LUFC Data’s take away from Kenilworth Road of no Luton player completing more passes than Casilla on Saturday…

????????????????????????we produce such magnificent stats. But we don’t seem to be demoralising the opposition like our stats suggest

What a stat, pure dominance, yet we still only win by the odd goal right at the end. It wouldn’t be Leeds if we didn’t do it the hard way. MOT, #alaw.
