With Sunday’s international action seeing Wales welcome Slovakia to the Cardiff City Stadium for the European Championship group qualifier, confirmation that Swansea City winger and Leeds United’s main January transfer target, Daniel James, would be in the starting lineup for the first time, guaranteed fans would pay attention to the match.
The 21-year-old again didn’t disappoint as he saw his stock rise even further when he opened the scoring five minutes into the game. With Wales holding on for the clean sheet, his effort gave them all three points on the day as they got qualification off to a winning start and the reaction from Leeds fans on social media was pretty predictable given his performance.
With all the transfer window shenanigans and the presumed battery failure from Swansea City phones as Leeds couldn’t get in touch with them to get the deal over the line, even though James was with us on deadline day, the lad deserves huge credit for keeping his focus and not letting the disappointment get the better of him.
Dan James is having a blinder for Wales today hope we go back in for him in summer! #LUFC
