With confirmation on Monday of Pontus Jansson’s departure from the club in a £5.5million deal to Brentford, as the speculation on his sale kicked up a notch over the weekend, a number of fans felt there was a ready made replacement for the popular Swede and it probably won’t go down well with Sheffield Wednesday fans.

26-year-old Chelsea defender Michael Hector spent the 2018/19 campaign out on loan with Sheffield Wednesday and by all accounts he had a great year at Hillsborough.
According to our friends over at Vital Wednesday their Player of the Year has already indicated that it’s time for him to put roots down after his numerous loan spells away from Stamford Bridge but with his future yet to be sorted Fulham and Huddersfield are also supposedly in for him and plenty in the Elland Road faithful think he’d be the ideal replacement for modern day legend Pontus, as he looks like another player who wears his heart on his sleeve.
Rightly, some questioned whether Frank Lampard would deal with us, but given Chelsea’s presumed transfer system I’m not sure he’d have a say.
Would love to see @Michael Hector come in! Was class against us last season!

I’ve not seen a CB in this league who would fit Leeds better than Hector. He’d be our own Laporte/Van Dijk signing he’d completely transform that back line. A signing of that calibre would be the difference between promotion and no promotion imo.
