Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to judge their club’s January transfer activity as the window draws to a close.
United went into the window looking to address Marcelo Bielsa’s concerns over the goalkeeper situation and creative midfielders, having lost Chelsea-loanee Jamal Blackman to a broken tibia and Samuel Saiz to Getafe on loan.
There were no huge expectations that they would make wholesale additions in the winter market, and instead simply focused efforts on addressing the two weak areas of the side.
Kiko Casilla was brought in early in the month from Real Madrid, with Leeds able to negotiate a relative bargain of a deal that saw the 32-year-old move to Elland Road without a transfer fee.
Daniel James is also expected to finalise his move from Swansea before the deadline hits at 11 pm on Thursday, having traveled to Yorkshire on Wednesday night to complete his medical.
The duo are likely going to be the only first-team additions this month unless Leeds can pull off a complete shock of a deal, having missed out on defender Tyrone Mings to Aston Villa on loan.
Add to Casilla and James the youth talent Mateusz Bogusz, the window proved to be relatively successful for United, especially to these fans…
I think we could of got a 10 but Pablo, Roberts and Izzy can play that roll. Roberts looked very comfortable there at the weekend so I get why we didn’t. A keeper which was a must and a very dangerous winger that gives us a very different option in the final 3rd ???????? #lufc #mot

Signing Dan James gives us much more cover in attack. Allows Pablo and Tyler (plus Izzy when fit) to play more centrally as a no.10 and gives us four wingers in Alioski, the Two Jacks and James of course. Halme and further maturing youngsters from U23’s covers us elsewhere. #lufc

B. At least we haven’t sold anyone significant.

B+ Great goalkeeper signing and a decent prospect for the academy, but we need another attacking mid and/or a winger. I’ll give an A if we bring in another player

B+. Need a replacement for Saiz and another forward, on loan would be fine.

A+ we’ve shown the ambition we’ve cried out for for many years

To be honest, we could still really do with a decent backup CB too but it’s clear Bielsa didn’t want one, so nowt the club can do about that really

Great signings…..grade on window depends on how fit Bamford is

Consider a couple of Windows ago we were signing unproven players, we are heading in the right direction. Kiko will be great, saved us 2 points against Rotherham. And James looks like a winger we’ve been missing for a few seasons! Onward and upward!

No 10’s are expensive and what may be good for us now, might not be if we go up. Got a strong squad and Bielsa could escape Alcatraz with his problem solving skills, think GK was the key one and it was a blinder!

Solid A, mainly on the grounds that Marcelo knows more about football than I do and I don’t think he wanted any more signings. He seems to like a lean squad. The three (assuming the last goes through) provide greater flexibility plus some strengthening at keeper, which we needed
