It might have been a tough year for us but, put it this way, at least we’re not Sunderland.
For sure, it’s not been the campaign that any of us would have wanted or expected but when you consider what we’ve been through in recent years, it perhaps could have been worse.
Certainly, Sunderland’s form this season has been awful and with them set for League One, I daresay that the club is in danger of going to the wall, much like ours so nearly did.
I have a sense of empathy for them, then, and when you see financial figures like these below, you have to see the similarities with our plight of last decade:
I will be talking about #SAFC finances under Ellis Short on @bbcnewcastle after 4pm. The club have had trading losses of over Β£208 million since he acquired the club, equivalent to Β£502,000 a week. pic.twitter.com/PKUXuQhP8r

Plenty of our fans have reacted to this, then, as well as Adam Pope and so let’s take a look at what has been said:
This is staggering. https://t.co/I65FMH5R4N

The Verdict
I really do feel bad for Sunderland.
Of course I want to beat them but I also want to see the famous names of the game restored to their rightful places.
We certainly belong in the top flight and, arguably, so do they.
Thoughts, Whites? Let me know!
