“Nothing will change” – A lot of Leeds United fans don’t believe the FA will take racism seriously after they fined Millwall just £10,000 for racist chanting in January.
This is pathetic from our governing body, and how do they expect anything to get better when they are handing out pitiful fines like that.
To put this into context Huddersfield were fined £50,000 for that publicity stunt they pulled with PaddyPower over their new shirt.
It is, therefore, understandable why a lot of Leeds fans do not believe the FA’s statements made after Monday’s horrendous England game.
The game against Bulgaria was marred by racist chanting throughout and had to be stopped twice.
The FA after the game issued a strongly worded statement against racism, but their actions suggest that they don’t actually think the issue is serious.
Certainly, these Leeds fans are furious with the FA’s stance on racism.
See the best of the reaction below.
We’ve got to be careful not to cry ‘poor me’ with this, but it’s absolutely reasonable to point out the ridiculous disparity. We actually negotiated that fine. “How much to make this go away?” How much to make racism go away? £10k? https://t.co/qth93XLrB6

Absolute disgrace to believe a £10k fine will do anything. Like paying a parking fine that’s cheaper than the pay and display. Behind closed doors for upcoming matches, docked points in qualifiers, ban the offending fans.

Listening to the guy from the TV talking about taking drastic action rings hollow when you think about how they dealt with Millwall. Hollow words

Fines don’t work.

Nothing will change sadly. The football authorities will “investigate” and do the absolute minimum. The way @MillwallFC are “allowed” to get away this type of thing demonstrates that. Until clubs and teams are expelled from tournaments it’ll make no difference.

A £10k fine from our FA to Millwall in September says it all without having to use a comparison to us/Huddersfield. It doesn’t matter that it’s Millwall, it just matters that we’re now (rightly) asking UEFA to react appropriately whilst simultaneously avoiding the issue at home

That’s the point. A fine isn’t the answer, a £2million fine doesn’t make it go away. It’s the fans that are doing it, a club fine doesn’t hurt the fans.

Let’s call it as it is. Regardless of fines for other things, black players have suffered further abuse at grounds where a punishment was not strong enough to deal with it. They are complicit in players continuing to be abused.
