Leeds Word On The Tweet

“Unplayable on his day” – Loads of Leeds fans recall memories of “selfish but ruthless” star

|

Loads of Leeds United fans have been recalling their memories of Ross McCormack at Elland Road, after the club shared a post on Twitter focusing on his top-ten goals for the Whites.

McCormack moved to West Yorkshire from Cardiff City in 2010 after two years in Wales, and went on to score 58 times for United across 157 appearances before leaving for Fulham in acrimonious fashion in 2014.

Some supporters still feel negatively about the circumstances in which the 13-time Scotland striker walked out on Leeds, having claimed he was ‘hung out to dry’ before sealing his £11million move to Craven Cottage, while adding he felt the south west London side were more likely to play Premier League football.

The Glasgow-born forward may have been right that Fulham would reach the top-flight before the Whites, but McCormack has never played a second in the Premier League and now finds himself without a club following his release by Aston Villa last summer.

But while his career declined since leaving Elland Road, fans still remember the talent he possessed during his prolific days in West Yorkshire, which featured a 28-goal haul in the 2013/14 term that saw him clinch the division’s golden boot.
